Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist is also an author. She was a co-founder of The Huffington Post the founder and CEO of Thrive Global and the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington is a philanthropist and author, television personality and owner of the independently liberal online newsmagazine The Huffington Post. Born in Greece, Arianna Huffington moved to England with her family when she was sixteen years of age. At Cambridge University she earned a MA diploma in Economics. She was elected president at the age of 21 of the renowned debating society The Cambridge Union' and was the very first foreign student who was elected to this position. Following graduation, she left her mark as a conservative syndicated columnist and with the launch of The Huffington Post' few years later she created an online voice portal which included critical comments regarding the state of affairs. Her status as a celebrity helped to get a number of prominent contributors to write their own opinions on news, politics and other topics. Arianna was famous in 2003 when she decided to contest as an independent presidential candidate during the California recall vote to succeed then Governor Davis. Aside from that she also led the Detroit Project for fuel-efficient cars. Her rank was 12th on Forbes' list of most influential women in media. That same year, Guardian listed her among the 100 top media figures. AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post, and she was made president of the group of media. It included a variety of AOL properties at that time, including Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. Her parents were Elli as well as Konstantinos Stasinopoulos. Konstantinos was a business consultant as well as a journalist. Though she shared a kinship relation to her parents but it was their connection which shaped her. Through her early times, she demonstrated her leadership qualities for which she is still well-known. When she was 16 she moved to United Kingdom to pursue her study and then enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. She was a member of The Cambridge Union college debate society while in college, where she was the third female to be elected president. In 1972, she graduated with an MA in Economics. She was a journalist, a TV host as well as a columnist following her graduation. Also, she appeared on the series Face the music along with Bernard Levin and began writing books, utilizing editorial guidance from the latter.
